Why travelling with a dog is so special and what you need to consider

Ready for vacation!

In July, everything revolves around the topic

"TRAVELLING WITH DOG"

Dogsmopolitan travel tips

Booked months ago, the trip with your dog can finally begin. The countdown has begun:

The suitcases are packed, the car is ready to go and the dog travel bag?

To make sure you don't forget any of the most important things, we have put together a small packing list for you:

EU pet passport

The EU pet passport is incredibly important when travelling at home and abroad, as it lists all of your dog's vaccinations, its chip number and the address of your vet. This is very helpful in an emergency. A valid rabies vaccination is also a prerequisite for entering and leaving the country and returning home.

Leash & Co.

Collar, harness and leash. Everything that makes you and your dog feel comfortable and safe. Pay attention to the guidelines at your holiday destination and be prepared for all eventualities. Just like at home, think about your own safety and that of others. Also find out about any existing muzzle requirements.

Food & Bowls

We recommend that you pack your four-legged friend's usual food. To avoid problems with food allergies, for example, it is a good idea to take enough of the usual food and, if necessary, nutritional supplements. To be on the safe side, you can ask about local shops that sell high-quality food.

Towels & bathrobe

A towel or dog bathrobe are really indispensable for us. They keep dirt and moisture out of the holiday apartment, hotel or camper and protect your dog's back.

Dog bed and/or blanket

Many dogs have their own, favorite place to sleep, where they can relax better in new places. Is the dog bed too big to take with you or do you have no more room in the car? Your four-legged friend's favorite blanket is a good alternative for the duration of your vacation.

You should also pack:

If your dog needs medication, this should of course be included in your luggage. A small first aid kit can also be very helpful. Poop bags are not freely available at every holiday destination, so it is a good idea to have them with you.

Everyday goodies like your dog's favorite toy or treats will make your dog feel good and round off the vacation.

Travel by car

There is one incredibly important point when traveling by car: securing. Your pet should have a fixed place on every car journey: for example, strapped into a harness with a wide chest strap, in a car seat on the back seat or in a box in the trunk. Please never leave your four-legged friends unsecured in the car.

Breaks

Depending on how far you are travelling, it is best to plan enough short breaks. This is good not only for your dog but also for your concentration. Many new service stations on major motorways already have specially fenced dog areas where every furry friend can relax and stretch their paws and relieve themselves. Also provide a bowl of fresh water or use the dog filling stations.

Please never leave your dogs alone in the car in summer, not even if you just want to go shopping for a quick bit. Even if the car is parked in the shade, a dangerous heat trap can develop within a few minutes.

Air travel

Travelling by plane with a small dog is becoming increasingly popular. It is particularly important that your dog feels safe in its carrier and that it still complies with the strict guidelines of the respective airline.

Do you have several and/or larger animals and don't want them to have to fly in the cargo hold? We have an unusual tip for you! Private charters are a perfect, albeit very expensive, alternative. However, the dog and owner are rewarded with a super fast, relaxed and exclusive experience that will remain unforgettable.

Travel support with CBD

CBD is a must-have for supporting the body and mind, especially for dogs. Various studies, including one from the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, have concluded that CBD, when dosed correctly, is a great natural remedy for reducing stress and anxiety, even relieving pain or improving inflammation levels.

Since CBD is a purely herbal remedy, it has a very individual effect. Therefore, you should start giving it a few days before you go on holiday to find the right dosage for your pet. You can also follow the recommendation on the product packaging.

There are many CBD products on the market. Our trusted producer is Nacani. This CBD oil and the treats were developed in close cooperation with veterinarians. In addition, they are produced in a small factory in Germany to the highest standards. Nacani uses 100% real full-spectrum hemp oil with natural CBD content and is free from grains and gluten.

CBD can be a great support when traveling. Many dogs suffer from travel anxiety, have to deal with nervousness or nausea. Then it continues at the vacation destination, where everything is new and unfamiliar. This can quickly become stressful, especially for the more sensitive four-legged friends. Giving CBD can reduce this stress and improve well-being.

By the way: If your dog reacts well to the CBD while on holiday and you feel a noticeable improvement, the oil and treats are a real support for the stressful Christmas season and anxiety on New Year's Eve.

We wish you a wonderful holiday, a good rest and lots of fun!

Traveling with a dog can be a rewarding experience. There is nothing better than discovering new places with your loyal companion. But what are the must-haves on every trip? In this blog post, we will walk you through the most important things to consider when traveling with your dog.

One thing you should never forget when travelling with your dog is to bring plenty of food and water. Your dog needs to stay hydrated and fed just as much as you do. Don't forget a first aid kit for emergencies and his usual toys to keep him entertained.

We also recommend a quality leash and a sturdy collar or harness. A comfortable bed and a cozy blanket are also a must. This way your dog can always sleep comfortably and safely, even when you are out and about. Last but not least, we recommend that you always have a microchip on your dog in case you lose him. This way you can find him again as quickly as possible.

Overall, these must-haves are important companions on any trip with a dog. They help to ensure that both you and your dog can enjoy the trip. Traveling with a dog can become an unforgettable adventure for both of you.
