The right dog bed for your darling
Our dogs spend the night and a large part of the day in their bed - up to 17 hours a day. It is not just a place for them to sleep, but also a place to retreat that gives them security and where they can recharge their batteries. Your dog's own "nest" is of great importance for their quality of life. That is why every dog needs its own place to sleep, and it has to be suitable: the size, age and health of your furry friend must be taken into account when buying.
But it also has to be suitable for us humans. Our own sleeping and resting place should also fit perfectly into the living area and should therefore be chosen like a piece of furniture.
A dog bed for every phase of life
As a rule, you need at least three dog beds: for the puppy, the adult dog and the senior. Because every phase of life has its own priorities. If a puppy is coming soon, please don't buy a dog bed for an adult dog just because the little one will "grow into it". Otherwise, your furry friend will miss out on the cuddle and security factor.
Size and shape
Determining the right size is actually very easy: simply measure the total length of your dog when stretched out. Now add 20 to 30 centimeters of leeway and you have the optimal diameter for the new dog bed. It should definitely not be any smaller: even dogs who prefer to curl up to sleep like to lie stretched out on their bed when they are in deep sleep. Whether the bed is oval, rectangular, round or square is up to you. The only important thing is that your darling still fits on the bed in every sleeping position.
The filling
A high-quality filling is extremely important to ensure that your dog is permanently comfortable and cozy.
Fillings made of polyester or fleece are particularly common. They are actually very soft and comfortable and a good choice for small to medium-sized dogs. They are not suitable for large dogs, however, because the material is quickly flattened under their weight and the cushioning function is lost.
When buying your dog bed, please make sure that it has a high-quality filling. Often, “waste” from the bedding industry is used and feathers and all kinds of other colorful materials can be found.
We always recommend that our customers choose a dog bed with viscoelastic material, which adapts precisely to the shape of the body and thus relieves pressure on bones and joints.
